Dr. Lou pack
Dr. Pack has been a caring physician for nearly forty years who loves helping people. Disappointed in what has happened to our current medical system, his practice is quite unique, reflecting the care and attention he believes patients deserve. In Dr. Pack’s office there are no “gate keepers” to prevent you from seeing the doctor. No physician’s assistants or nurses will ever examine or treat you. If you come to see him, it’s him you’ll see and be able to reach whenever you need him, as patients are given his cell phone number. The doctor spends between one and one and a half hours with every new patient. And no one is kept waiting as he thinks your time is as important to you as his is to him. This he believes is the way it should be.
Among Dr. Pack’s many credentials:
•Former Clinical Instructor of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine
•Founding Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology
•Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons
•Fellow of the American Academy of Ambulatory Foot Surgeons
•Board Certification in Foot and Ankle Surgery
•Diplomate of the National Board of Podiatric Examiners
•Former Director of Residency Training and Post Graduate Education, Atlanta Hospital and Medical Center
•Director of Certification, Functional Foot Orthotics, Division of Enhanced Performance,
United States Sports Academy
•Georgia Institute of Technology, Teaching faculty
Dr. Pack has worked with eight world record holders in different sports, including Olympic gold and silver medalists, and a British Open and Masters Golf champion. He has treated professional athletes in all sports
And often helps seniors excel in various sports. Dr. Pack has lectured extensively both here and abroad, appeared on many radio and television shows, and been interviewed by Mike Wallace for 60 Minutes. He has published numerous medical papers, written chapters for medical text books, and is currently finishing his own book on arthritis.
But credentials don’t show the man. Beyond his many degrees and awards is an individual with a work ethic and dedication to excellence and self improvement, not often seen. An absolute perfectionist in his treatment of patients, and someone always seeking better and better results, he’d rather call and visit a physician that has developed a new technique rather than simply reading about it.
Dr. Pack feels that although specialization has its obvious advantages, it limits a physicians thinking to only that area. So over the years Dr. Pack has sought out and trained with some of the foremost minds in medicine in the lower extremity including experts in diagnosis, injection therapy, biomechanics, arthritis and surgery. And feeling that one should certainly give back, he has been involved in teaching most of his professional career. Indeed, some of the most renowned podiatric physicians in the country have been his students.
He believes that staying active and fit is a responsibility we have to ourselves and our loved ones. Dr. Pack began running in 1972 and competed in the Bay-To-Breakers race in S.F., and has never stopped. He’s run marathons, cycles, and lifts weights; a routine without exception.
A dedicated family man, he has been married for thirty three years, has two children. Dr. Pack has also been a Rotarian for almost twenty five years and has received many awards for his civic activities. In 2009 both he and his wife were chosen as Volunteers of the Year by their local newspaper.
